Each year a teachers’ orientation programme is organized in DBL. These programmes encourage the teachers’ confidence and helps in adapting to the teaching environment. This academic year of 2019-2020 also saw a two-day animation programme for teachers on the 18th & 19th October, 2019. The two-day session saw intensive, thought provoking and ‘out of box’ sessions, conducted by Mr. Amitabh Mohan, an HRD Consultant and Ms. Baishali Ganguly, Product Manager at Indiannica Learning Pvt. Ltd. On the 18th of October, Mr. Mohan dealt with ‘stress management’. As teachers, we know that stress is inevitable. Papers will stack up, students will act out and lessons will have to be planned. Mr. Mohan’s ‘funda’ was basically planning a method to get students attention. Teachers should embrace the stress ‘Eutress’ or good stress to motivate the performance, the health quotient and to build an emotional well-being. On the other hand, ‘Distress’ or bad stress should be eliminated by knowing how to handle stressful situations.
On the 19th of October, Ms. Baishali laid importance on “Class Management”. This she did by conducting a variety of games to make class management techniques look interesting and novel. A good classroom management is both stimulating for teachers and also facilitates positive learning. The two-day animation programme produced some effective and productive teaching methods to inspire, empower and foster the ambience of self-confidence, passion and nurture the lives of the students.
