The ship belongs to the Coast Guard, a part of our country’s Defence Academy. A team comprising 29 students and 6 teachers accompanied by the Principal, Fr. Sunit Kiro and Vice Principal, Fr. Eugine Kujur, registered for the visit. We reached the dock around 9.30 a.m. and after security check we entered the dockyard led by a member of the coast guard followed by the guard of honour.
We were taken around to the different areas of the vessel like the helideck, the cabins, the gun launching area etc. Apart from our schools there were students from other schools and some NCC cadets. The purpose of the visit was to create awareness and get the students interested about the working of the coast guards. We also interacted with the captain of the ship who educated us about their functioning and motive of working with the coast guard association. The complete show was covered live by Friends 91.9 FM where we spoke about our experiences and expressed our views on air. It was also covered by Times of India. We were also treated to a sumptuous tea party followed by clicking of photographs. A grandeur experience which enriched us with knowledge and memories to cherish…..
