On Monday, India the world’s largest democratic Nation celebrated its 70th Independence Day, on the 15th of August 2016 and Don Bosco Liluah also ushered this august moment with much pomp and fervour. At about 8.00 am, Fr Rector, Fr Biji Thomas hoisted the tricolour Indian flag. This was followed by the National Anthem sung by the students, teachers and non-teaching staff, parents and the salesians.
Fr Sunit Kiro reminded us on the freedom and strength of the soul quoting from Rabindranath Tagore. The Prefect and the Vice Prefect spoke on unity in diversity and about India’s progress respectively. The celebration continued with a couple of patriotic songs - Dhano Dhanyae Pushpae Bhora and patriotism took an eclectic and sonorous spirit with the tunes of Saare Jahan sae Achha Hindusthan Hamara. A sit and draw competition on the theme ‘Freedom’ was organized and several students participated with enthusiasm.
