On the occasion of May Day, the fifty-eight strong support staff of DBL were honoured and felicitated at an appropriately solemn ceremony organized in the school auditorium on 29 April 2016. The one and a half hour programme commenced with the customary lighting of the lamp, followed by the speech of the Rector, Rev. Fr. Biji Thomas. This was followed by an entertainment programme designed specially by the students for their dear ‘Uncles’ and ‘Aunts’. It was an amalgamation of songs, dances, unconventional music and a skit. A highlight of the event were two surprise items presented by Mr. Bijay and Mr. Gobindo (both members of the non-teaching staff). While the former won our hearts by a guitar performance and the rendition of an old hindi song, the latter regaled the audience with a self-composed piece on how our lives are enmeshed in a series of ‘tions’, from birth till death.
The thank you address was delivered by the School Principal, Rev. Fr. Sunit Kiro and by Mr. Marshall on behalf of the non-teaching staff. The programme concluded with the distribution of household utility items and a food each to these ‘silent workers’ who form the backbone of the functioning of the institution.
