‘Da Mahi Animas Cetera Tolle’ – ‘Give me Souls, Take away The Rest’ was the clarion call of St. John Bosco, the patron saint of the Salesians and millions of youth all over the world. Don Bosco School, Liluah feted this ‘Friend and Father of Youth’ through a three day long programme, befittingly culminating with a mass on the final day 16th August, 2015, the day of his birth, presided over by the Archbishop of Kolkata, His Grace, Rev. Fr. Thomas D’Souza, in the presence of the provincial of the Kolkata Province, Rev. Fr. Nirmol Gomes.
In the final lap of the celebration, the parishioners draped in white and gold saris, escorted The Archbishop, The Provincial, Fathers and Brothers to the stage set for the Holy Eucharist, with a graceful adivasi dance. His Grace stressed on the wise John Bosco’s words, to be wise in the presence of God because times are evil. He reminded all to be like Don Bosco, with the young and for the young, for love conquers all. The offeratory was offered to the steps of a graceful Bengali dance by parishioners. At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration, Rev. Fr. Thomas D’Souza blessed two marble plaques, the foundation stones of churches at Bhattanagar and Joypur. The cultural programme that followed had a Prayer Dance from the Chandmari Unit of the parish too. Rev. Fr. Nirmal Gomes bore the good wishes of the Rector Major, Rev. Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime SDB and urged the congregation to remember the three pillars of Don Bosco – Eucharist, Mother Mary and the Church. The members of the DBL family felt honoured and blessed to host this bicentenary celebration of the embodiment of humanity, St John Bosco.
