The sports day of the Primary Section of Don Bosco School, Liluah, 2014-15  was a huge success, helped massively by the fine weather holding for the day.  There was a number of outstanding achievements throughout the day and huge enthusiasm shown by students, staff members and all the others associated.

The enthusiasm of the students rose with the rising tunes of the bugle which announced the arrival of the chief guest. The Honourable chief guest for the day, Mr. Arshad Hasan Warsi, Assistant District Magistrate (Development) took the warm wishes and greetings from the students by saluting them as the flags went down as a sign of respect. It was indeed a treat to the eyes to see the students marching in different colours to the tunes and drum beats by the RPF band led by Sub-Inspector Mr. Suraj Bahadur. All of this was followed by the hoisting of the National flag and the School flag with the respective anthems going along.

The chief guest was then introduced by the Rector of the house, Fr.Biji Thomas, SDB in his welcome speech and he also happily and proudly introduced of a very special guest, Sylvain Monsoreau, French professional footballer who plays as a central defender for Atlético de Kolkata in the Indian Super League. Getting this eminent personality at hand’s reach was a monumental effort by the past pupils of the school, who have always been one of the strongest pillars.

All students were involved in the day and all competed and represented their respective houses, Rua, Savio, Megone and Vecchi with the right energy and team spirit.  The events included track as well as field events. Some of the events were fun like that of garlanding the bride, skipping, bat and ball and many more. Some like the tunnel ball, tug-o-war, house relays and particularly the grand relay led to a lot of anxious looks, breath taking moments and a lot of cheering.

Overall a very successful day with parents attending, with some excellent feedback and crowd participation. Each year the sports day gets bigger and better looking forward to new ideas new events and a bigger day every year.

Well done to all competitors and finally the Rua house stood first followed by the Vecchi, Savio and Megone. The dusky evening reflected the freshness of dawn with echoing slogans telling the tales of victory of the different houses. Fr. Eugine, the Vice-Principal of the school and in charge of the primary section brought the day to a wonderful end with the vote of thanks, thanking each and everyone involved in the making and shaping the day.
