All good things come to those who wait – says a proverb which is indeed true as Don Bosco Liluah witnessed a mesmerizing celebration of the 154th birth anniversary of the most revered bard of the nation on 15th May, 2014. This solemn occasion commenced with the lighting of the lamp to invoke God’s blessings upon us followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest, our Provincial, Rev. Father Thomas Ellicherail and other dignitaries.
The inaugural dance ‘Aaloker er jharna dharay’ aptly conveyed the message of moving ahead towards a better and brighter future which was in tune with the theme of the day, ‘Tagore, the Patriot.’ The soulful rendition of the song ‘o amar desher mati’ by the choir aroused our love for our motherland.
The recitation of the poem ‘Where the mind is without fear’ added that touch of inspiration required to awake the YOUTH of today to shape a better NATION, a better WORLD as portrayed by Tagore the visionary. Tagore’s patriotism is not limited to his works alone and this was highlighted through the enactment of the letter of refusal where Tagore renounces the title of Knighthood conferred upon him, as an act of protest in response to the brutal Jalliwanwalabagh massacre. The resplendent dance performance on the song ‘Bhengecho duyar eshecho jyotirmoy’ enchanted the audience. The fusion dance based on the song ‘Jodi tor dak shune keu na aashe tobe ekla cholo re’ knocked the doors of our hearts to answer the call of our motherland in times of need. Through these vibrant performances of the students the immortal creations of Tagore came to life for a while.
This was followed by the felicitation of the successful students of the year 2013-14. Father Provincial handed over the prizes and certificates to the students. The bells of achievement and glory were ringing in the air as the efforts of the students were acknowledged. Each and every step to success is an achievement. The students were thus encouraged and awarded for their efforts and achievements.
The entire DBL fraternity gathered this morning for a special an auspicious morning prayer ceremony as today we had our Provincial Father Thomas Ellicherail with us to bless the newly built school entrance and the renovated reception area. The ceremony commenced with a reading from the holy Bible which was followed by a prayer where Father blessed one and all associated with Don Bosco Liluah. Father suggested that the deep-rooted and age old values and traditions of DBL and the new and vibrant school entrance would lead us to a new beginning.
DBL will have fond memories of this day but it will also remember the day with a tinge of sadness as today we also had to bid farewell to our Father Provincial Father Thomas Ellicherail, our Vice Provincial Father Jose Pampadyil, our Provincial Economer Father M.C. Joseph and our very own Vice Principal Father Motilal Kisku and also Brother Harris. Our Vice Provincial and Brother Harris were not present for the farewell program. It was a sad occasion to say goodbye to these great and wonderful people with our hearts full of gratitude. We promised them of our prayers and wished them the very best for their lives ahead.
