VISIT TO JAILS

On 15th August 2013, the students of Class 11 – A visited the Dum Dum Jail as part of their SUPW project. The students interacted with the inmates and distributed the things that they had taken with them.

On the 16th August 2013, the students of Class 11 – C visited the Presidency Jail where the conditions were much better compared to the Dum Dum jail and they were warmly welcomed by the inmates.   They also had the privilege to see the cell where Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was kept in captivity before he was put on house arrest. They also saw the gallows, the place where the convicts are hanged.  A football match was played against the inmates and the students.  Though the students expected rough play and aggression from them, they played very descently and the students  lost the match 6 - 0.

       

On the 17th of August 2013, the students of Class 11 – B visited the Midnapore Jail where they spoke to a number of prisoners including some from China and Nigeria.  They also organized a cultural programme for the inmates. The female inmates of the jail cooked lunch for the students.
