INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

“Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny and now the time comes when we will redeem our pledge not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially.”

The staff, parents, past pupils and students of DBL gathered in the school premises to celebrate the Independence Day of our country.  The programme began with the breaking of the National Flag by our Rector, Rev. Fr. Tomy Joseph.  Fr. Rector in his speech emphasized that the need of the hour was to protect the secular fabric of our country and how the youth should take up the cudgel to fight against the hydra headed monster- terrorism.

A patriotic speech in English by Shivam Agarwal, a Bengali speech by Sohom Saha Poddar highlighted on the sacrifices made by umpteen number of our freedom fighters.  A befitting tribute was paid to our brave heroes by Ishan Kumar Yadav, through his self-composed poem.  Nilava Metya recited “where the mind is without fear” with great fervour and patriotism.   Two soul stirring patriotic songs were sung by the students.

Rev. Fr. Sunit Kiro, the Principal, thanked everyone present and acknowledged with gratitude the wonderful programme put up by the students with the help of their teachers in making the Independence Day celebrations memorable.
