DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, Liluah

INSTALLATION & BLESSING OF MOTHER TERESA STATUE

‘Leaving the precincts of the secure portals of Loreto Convent, Mother Teresa chose to live in the streets of Calcutta, ‘among the poorest of the poor.”  Don Bosco’s clarion call was ‘Give me souls, take away the rest.”  What better day to celebrate the saint who is to be canonized on 04 September, 2016 than on the birth anniversary of St. John Bosco.

Don Bosco Liluah feted Mother Teresa with a befitting morning assembly dedicated to her and conducted by the Bosco Boys.  A movie on Mother Teresa screened in the auditorium made the boys of DBL aware of the countless and the selfless service to humanity given with boundless love by this Apostle of the Almighty.

The graceful prayer service that followed, again dedicated to Mother Teresa was presided over by the Provincial of the Calcutta Province of Don Bosco, Rev. Fr. Nirmol Gomes, Sr. Lysa, the Assistant General of the Missionaries of Charity and Rev. Fr. Biji Thomas, the Rector of Don Bosco School, Liluah. Present on the occasion were Rev. Fr. Bertie Fernandes and Rev. Fr. Plathottam Johm from DB SERI Mirpara, Rev. Fr. Sunit Kiro, Rev. Fr. Tomy Joseph, Rev. Fr. Eugine Kujur the past pupils, the present students and the staff members.

A photograph of Mother Teresa was released by Rev. Fr. Nirmol Gomes and handed over to Sr. Lysa, a copy of which was also given to each one present.

The last lap of the commemoration was with the blessing of a statue of Mother Teresa by the Provincial, Rev. Fr. Nirmol Gomes and its unveiling by Sr. Lysa, the Assistant General of the Missionaries of Charity, in the presence of the other dignitaries a befitting tribute to the great saint of humanity.  The statue was sculpted by the renowned sculptor, Mr. Bhowmick.
