DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, Liluah

BOSCOTSAV 2015

The 25th of July, 2015 saw several schools meet for the inter- school fest, Boscotsav’15, at Don Bosco School, Liluah, with the motto “Aequaliter Ingenia” meaning Opportunity for Talents. A total number of 15 schools from Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly participated enthusiastically to showcase their talents. The 15 Youth Groups shouldered their responsibility of organizing various events. About 1350 participants competed in their true spirit amidst the heavy downpour.

The august moment began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Rev. Fr. Rector’s speech. The guest schools were ushered with the welcome songs and dance. While Fr. Rector declared the celebration open, his solemn words reminded us about Boscotsav’15 being celebrated amidst the closing ceremony of the Bicentenary of His Birth - Don Bosco and the events also evoked the same spirit and fervour. With this began the Bosco Taal (Eastern Folk Dance) for the Juniors, Rationale, Bosco- Footloose (street- dance), Origamy, Bosco – Yummy (non-fire cooking), and soap–carving. The Bosco Admatazz saw hilarious ad–scoofs with a serious message on ‘Swatchh- Bharat’ was most cheered.

The off-stage event like Quizzard, 99 seconds to fame, Criss-Cross, Counter-Strike and Bosco Resonance imbued a huge student participation.  Bosco Jam (Just a minute) witnessed extolling speeches. Nevertheless Bosco- Fusion (eastern and western music) and the rock numbers created raving waves in the audience that geared them to stay glued amidst the incessant rain. The lilting music of the Veena made the ambience sonorous. The auditorium soon transformed into a seat of myriad cultures where schools showcased various music and dance forms in vibrant colours. The most awaited Bosco Grooves saw some of the exhilarating performances where Michael Jackson, Paul Walker and David Guetta found place. There were some surprises in stock – i.e. the Committee dance, where some unique dance feats were shown. Following this was the release of the Brochure for Boscotsav ’15, by Rev. Fr. Rector. The participants waited with bated breath as the prize distribution ceremony got underway, recognizing winners and participants with certificates and medals. The best schools were awarded with trophies where Don Bosco Liluah, St. Josephs’s Chandannagar and Don Bosco School, Park Circus received the honours.

The celebration came to an end with the Vote of thanks by our Principal, Rev. Fr. Sunit Kiro. With the cooperation of every participating school and the hard work put in by the teachers and students, Boscotsav’15 was an extravagant experience.
