DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, Liluah

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.

On the 11th of May, 2015 the school bore witness to a colourful investiture ceremony conducted by the LTS Club. The ceremony began on a somber note with a reading from the Holy Bible. After the school prefect, the school vice prefect and the captains of the four houses had taken their positions on the stage, Father Rector, handed over the house flags and put the sashes over their shoulders. He congratulated each of them reminding them of the responsibilities that entailed their positions of office. Then there was the lighting of the lamp led by Father Rector and accompanied by Brother Jose, the school office bearers lit the lamp and promised to act as beacons of selflessness, humility and discipline.

A good leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. He combines his vision with his passion. Father Rector’s message highlighted this virtue. He further urged the students to lead by example and uphold the glory of the school. Father Rector’s message was followed by the oath-taking ceremony. The school prefect was administered the oath of office by Father and then led the others into theirs. A short prayer service was conducted by Father to seek God’s blessings on the newly appointed office bearers. School badges were given away to all the school and class office bearers by Father Rector and Brother Jose.

The school prefect gave a stimulating speech urging all his peers in office to act in unison for the betterment of the school. A leader must not only be instinctive but also compassionate to the needs of others. On this day, a few of the students of the Holy Family School were present to share the joys of the occasion. The Holy Family School works for the under privileged, impoverished children. The students were given small tokens of appreciation for their performance (a dance and a song)  by  Brother Jose. The school prefect handed over a present to the students. The ceremony came to a conclusion with the vote of thanks by Brother Jose.
